How to Navigate and Use Instagram Reels

Instagram Reels is the new way to record and upload media on Instagram. It is a video with a fifteen second time limit where you can broadcast clips with audio and other effects, such as Boomerang. These reels are a great way to broadcast yourself or others. This blog post will help you understand how to properly and effectively use IG reels.

Creating Your Instagram Reel

Creating reels is just as simple as making a story. Just select the reels option next to story, hit record, and film away! However, there is a lot more to reels than meets the eye. You can choose to either use your own audio, which is the default, or you can use the songs on Instagram for the audio: just search for a song in their music library, and select it to use in your reel! You can also set a timer to start recording after the timer is done. Lastly, you can align previous clips and or photos with the next clip or photo to make seamless transitions and change the speed of any part of the video.

Posting Your Instagram Reel

Once you’ve finished creating your reel, it’s time to share it. You can either add it to your story, or you can post it by itself. To post it in your story, swipe left and add it in. You can choose where you want it to show so that you can control where people will see it. You can show it in Explore, Home, and the Reel section and or your Stories.

Browsing Reels

Now that you know how to make your own, it’s time to see what other people have made. If you go to the explore section, there should be a large square at the top with the word “Reels” in the bottom-left corner. If you click on that, you can see the top reels worldwide, not just the reels from the creators you follow. From there, you can give Instagram your feedback on which videos you like, which videos you don’t like, and you can even direct message people that created the reels you enjoy.
