My Journey to DIYHi, I'm Cassie! I'm a High School Biology teacher, dog mom, and wife that loves my job, family, fashion, crafting, and anything DIY!
After completing graduate school I moved down to Southwest Florida to be with my Fiancé, Carson. After a year and a half of being in Florida we were married and buying our first home together, and that is where it all started! Our first home was a new build so we did DIY updates such as backsplash in the kitchen, shiplap wall in the living room, floating shelves, and a pallet wall in the entry way. Unfortunately my husband got laid off from his job and the house was already more than we could truly afford. So, we decided to sell our first home and restart. We were not sure what we wanted to do next. At first, we thought of moving back to Atlanta, then possibly to Tennessee, but in the end we stayed in Southwest Florida. This is when we shifted our DIY into overdrive. After a few months of renting in-between our old and new home, we came across the roughest, most neglected property in the neighborhood we wanted to be in. For a DIY couple, it was love at first sight. This townhome was built just before the Great Recession, and over the years has been foreclosed, owned by the community HOA, neglected by renters, and poorly maintained (if at all) by various owners over the past 15 years. We're excited to welcome you into our home and share our triumphs, struggles, and the lavish life of our spoiled black lab, Elsa.
